Challenge

The Department of Health and Human Services launched the Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (LAN) in 2015 and recognized stakeholder participation as critical to achieving the goal of increasing adoption of alternative payment models that improve quality and reduce costs. As part of this, the LAN wanted to convene a series of large, bi-annual meetings of leading experts in the field of health care payment reform. Our challenge was to plan, organize, and run multiple in-person events that could accommodate 700-900 attendees. The events would cover one to two days, highlighting key issues to advance the use of alternative payment models.

Strategic Solution

We provided leadership and support in developing agendas, managing logistics, and facilitating meetings. We developed a separate communications strategy to promote the events and engage participants. In addition, we provided on-site support, facilitated speaker prep calls, developed microsites, managed social media strategy, and provided post-meeting metrics and analysis.

Impact

Our first LAN Summit was planned and successfully executed in less than six weeks. To date, we have supported three in-person meetings and one virtual meeting which were all highly attended and rated by its participants.
