How can I best prepare myself for a possible interview?
Prepare in Advance
Research our company’s organizational structure, values, culture, and projects. The better equipped you are to ask thoughtful questions, the smoother your conversation will go throughout the interview.
Take Time to Review
Be sure to look over your resume and the job description prior to an interview. Consider how your past experience might help you exceed in the role. Having this information fresh in your mind will help you feel more confident when interviewing. Candidates really stand out when they communicate how specific examples of their work align with the types of projects we do! Checking our online resources also gives you a sense of the Ripple culture, which opens the door for good conversations about day-to-day life at our company.
How can I make a good first impression in a virtual job interview?
Be on Time
Enter the video chat a few minutes early, ensuring you have the correct software loaded (if necessary) and your internet connection is strong.
Dress for Success
Make sure you look polished and professional, putting just as much thought into your appearance as you would for an in-person meeting.
Consider the Setting
Find a clean, quiet area of your living space where you can take the call. Be sure to speak with any housemates in advance to ensure you are not interrupted or distracted.
What can I expect to be asked in an interview?
Behavioral-Based Interviewing
We want to know the person behind a list of skills on a resume. To get a sense for how candidates would perform in our work environment, we ask interview questions that reveal the thought processes underlying your past professional experiences.
For example, we might ask you to describe a time when you faced a conflict at work. There’s no “right” answer, but we are looking for replies with specific details on the situation, how you responded, and the ultimate outcome. Avoid generalities such as, “overall, I try to communicate frequently.” When we ask for an example, we are looking for a response that includes specifics related to the situation you are sharing. Remember to always answer honestly—don’t be afraid to own up to past mistakes. We don’t expect you to be perfect; we want to see your thought process when faced with challenging situations!
