A federal research division needed support improving the efficiency and clarity of internal business processes that underpin its grantmaking and training operations. With many of its workflows touching nearly every office, the division needed support in modernizing how teams collaborated and executed mission-critical functions.

Evaluate and improve critical business processes to help a federal research division operate more efficiently, consistently, and collaboratively across its grantmaking and research training functions.
Our Path to Success
Ripple conducted in-depth reviews of seven core business processes tied to financial management, development and publication of funding opportunities, and review and award of grant applications. Each review included information-gathering on current workflows, pain points, and system limitations. For each of these processes (and eight non-core business processes), we developed clear process flowcharts, SOPs, reference guides, and detailed “to be” documents with visuals, templates, and system requirements to enhance the efficiency, consistency, and accuracy of critical operations. This included 21 SOPs for financial management of an average annual appropriation equal to $870 million for the past four years.
